How much is enough?

Would you rather win a guaranteed £100,000,
or have a fifty fifty chance of winning
a million pounds on the spin of a coin?
This week's dilemma is a test of greed, and offers a choice between taking a gamble, or playing it safe.  Here's the scenario...

You're waiting for the bus one day when an eccentric billionaire approaches you and offers you £100,000.  He opens his briefcase containing the cash, so you can see the offer is genuine.

However, he then offers you a gamble...  You can either take the £100,000 there and then, and the money will be yours to keep, or you can risk it all on the spin of a coin for the chance of even more cash.  If you guess heads or tails correctly, the eccentric billionaire will instead give you a million pounds!  However, if you guess wrong then you lose everything and walk away with nothing.  Not even your bus fare home!

So that's the dilemma.  What would you do?  Would you take the £100,000, or would you risk it all on the spin of a coin for the chance of a million pounds?

...or play every instrument in the world?

Languages and musical instruments are the themes of this month's dilemma.
This month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma offers you the chance to gain new talents, and whichever choice you go for, you would instantly become a total expert at your chosen ability.  So you would either become perfectly fluent in every language, or you would be a world class musician at every instrument.

As it happens, I'm already totally amazing at every instrument* so I'd probably go for the 'fluent in all languages' option, but what about less musically talented people?  Which option would you go for?

...would you use that day to relive the most enjoyable day of your life, or to change things you weren't happy with?

Time travel is the theme for this month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma.
And to clarify, you can't do both.  This month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma is a straight choice; either relive the best day of your life, or relive a day of mistakes and correct those mistakes.

Both options would be quite appealing, but if it had to be one or the other, which one would you choose?

...or enter any TV show or movie of your choice?

Dreams and TV shows become reality...
...in a hypothetical sense, i.e. not really.
We're firmly into the realms of science fiction with this month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma, with both options sounding like something from the plot of a forthcoming Hollywood movie.  Entering people's dreams or entering TV shows/movies would both be pretty mind-blowingly amazing experiences to get your head around, and it would be tempting to be able to experience both options.

However, if you could only choose one, which one would it be?  To be able to enter other people's dreams, or enter any TV show or movie of your choice?

Two strange flavoured Easter eggs to choose from...

Unusual flavourings for Easter eggs.
As it's Easter Sunday today, I thought I would feature a topical 'Would You Rather?' on the subject of Easter eggs.

Being a 'Would You Rather?' though, obviously it can't involve two normal Easter eggs, as that would be a bit pointless, so for the dilemma this month you've been given a choice of two non-conventional Easter eggs, and you have to eat one of them.

The first is a curry flavoured Easter egg and the second is a baked beans flavoured Easter egg.  Which one would you eat?

Sleep or food to become non-essential.

A bed and a curry to illustrate the concepts of tiredness and hunger.
For this month's dilemma you get to choose between either sleep or food to become a non-essential part of life.  However, if you go for 'never get tired', you can still have a snooze if you want to, it's just that it wouldn't be physically necessary.  Taking a rest would be purely an optional choice.

And similarly, if you go for 'never get hungry' then of course you could still eat food, it's just that you wouldn't have to.  Eating would be purely for pleasurable purposes rather than for nutritional purposes.

...or eat a pancake with gravy as the topping?

A delicious strawberry pancake.  Sadly, not one of the
choices in this month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma.
As it's Pancake Day in a few days time, I thought it would be appropriate to have a pancake themed 'Would You Rather?' this month.

However, rather than go for traditional toppings, such as chocolate sauce or honey for example, I've instead created a choice between two non-conventional pancake toppings.

Your two choices are:

1) Tomato ketchup, or
2) Gravy

For most people both of the above pancake options would be utterly disgusting.  However, if you had to eat one of them, which would it be?  The tomato ketchup pancake or the gravy pancake?

Would you read the book?

The Book Of Nasty Things.  "Interesting ideas, but the
plot lacks coherence." ...The Basingstoke Literary Review
It's a simple dilemma this month, and it's inspired by the old superstition that if your ears are burning it means someone is talking about you behind your back.  Of course, the superstition isn't true, and if your ears are burning then all it means is that your ears are hot.

However, what if you could actually discover what people had said about you behind your back.  That's the scenario for this month's 'Would You Rather?' dilemma...

A book is on the table in front of you, and inside the book are written all the bad things people have ever said about you behind your back throughout your entire life.  It tells you what they said, who said it and when they said it.

The dilemma is, 'Would you read the book?'

...or Santa's elves got no payrise this year?

Santa faces a tough decision this year.
To set the scene for this 'Would You Rather?' dilemma, imagine you're an elf working at Santa's Toy Factory at the North Pole, and sadly it turns out that even Santa isn't immune from the current economic climate.  As a result, Santa's accountants have told him that this year he has to make some cutbacks.

Santa therefore faces some tough decisions, because the budegetary cuts mean there's no money in the pot to give his elves a payrise this year.  However, one option available to Santa would be to give each kid less toys this Christmas and use the savings to finance the Elves' Pay Award.

How strong is your stomach?

Mmm!  Lovely!
A few weeks ago, a lady at work went on holiday for a week and forgot to empty her cup of coffee before she left.  As you can see in the photo, when she got back to work a week later, she discovered that her coffee had started to go mouldy.  In fact it was so mouldy that there were big lumps of fungus floating in the coffee.

Our boss likes to keep the working day interesting, so when we discovered the mouldy coffee, he quickly offered £50 to anyone who would drink it.  There were no takers at £50, so he then increased his offer to £100, but even at that price we all still declined the chance to earn some cash in return for drinking a mug of mouldy coffee.

But what would you do?  Would you drink the cup of mouldy coffee for £100?  Or how about for £1000?  Or would you still refuse to drink it even for £1000?  Vote below on whether a financial incentive could tempt you into drinking the cup of mouldy coffee shown in the photo.
